PSLA Special Education Mini-Grant Program 2002: Get the facts!
by Cynthia Wetmiller

The PSLA is once again awarding mini-grants to special education teachers to incorporate service-learning with Individual Education Plans and special education curriculum. All mini-grants must utilize the essential elements of service-learning and promote academic standards and inclusion. After school, evening or weekend volunteerism is not considered service-learning. Service-learning is community service that is integrated into the curriculum during the school day to enhance academic goals and objectives.

This statewide funding initiative will commence no later than October 1, 2002 and the PSLA is tentatively planning on a November 18, 2002 deadline for all submissions. K-12 special education teachers from public and approved private schools are eligible to apply.

Once the application materials are completed, the PSLA will post the application packet on the PSLA website for downloading. Email notification will be sent when the application packet is posted on the website. Stay tuned for details!
