Youth Summit on Technology and Service-Learning
by Faith Goldstein

The Youth Summit on Technology and Service-Learning was an all-day event located at the School District of Philadelphia's John F. Kennedy Center. Students and teachers participated in a host of student-led workshops focused on technology, service-learning and multi-disciplinary projects. An exhibit area was also available for students and teachers to explore and gather ideas and materials for future projects.

The summit involved approximately 200 participants from over 25 public schools in Philadelphia. One hundred-fifty of those who attended were students from grades 2 through 12. School groups were assigned to one of five teams based on grade levels and were required to tackle certain service-learning tasks. Throughout the day, there were 15 school presentations and 14 displays of service-learning work already accomplished by some of the attending schools.

Take a look on our website at the projects and activities which were showcased at the summit: www.delawarevalley.org/psla/summit
