PSLA and EcoTech Service-Learning Trainings in Philadelphia

University City High School's ECOTECH/YDSLC and Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance Service-Learning Teacher Training Workshops

The PSLA team in Philadelphia and ECOTECH's Service-Learning Center have put together a series of trainings for teachers. We will hold these trainings at University City High School both after school and during lunch hours. Workshops will be open to all teachers. The workshop schedule will be announced soon. Stay tuned to PSLA newsletters and our website for further details. In the meantime, save the date for this technology workshop:

Technology as a Service-Learning Tool
Faith Goldstein and Jon Zemanek, PSLA
Wednesday, November 13, 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm
This workshop will provide participants with some practical skills for incorporating technology into service-learning projects. Teachers will leave with a clear understanding of electronic portfolios and how to use a digital camera, as well as other ideas such as websites, webquest and other strategies for using technology in and out of the classroom. Questions about access to hardware, software and training will also be explored.

Additional workshop topics to be announced will include:

• Academic Standards, Service-Learning Assessment, Evaluation and Reflection
• Problem-based Learning
• Inquiry Learning
• Support for Service-Learning
  

Participants will receive one Act 48 credit hour for each training attended. Teachers are welcome to attend as many as they want. Teachers who complete all 6 workshop in the series will get special recognition. We hope you learn a lot, get excited about service-learning and enjoy!
