[printer friendly (text) page] Tolerance Workshop with the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh by Jessica Friedrichs A year has passed since September 11, but the issues of tolerance and promoting understanding through education are still in the forefront of our minds as educators. The PSLA Tolerance Workshop with the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, to be held on October 15 from 9am –3pm, will be an opportunity to explore and discuss these issues. The day will be divided into a service-learning/character education component at the University of Pittsburgh and an educational discussion and tour at the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh. Teachers and educators will learn about Islam, resources the Islamic Center has for the classroom and ways to promote tolerance through service-learning and character education. Join us for this free, informative event and receive Act 48 credit hours. For more information please contact Jessica Friedrichs at 412-648-1480. |
