[printer friendly (text) page] Website Review www.disabilityinfo.gov by Stephanie Gundry The disabilityinfo.gov site
contains plenty of disability and government-related
information. It is divided into the following sections:
employment, education, housing, transportation, health,
income support, technology, community life and civil
rights.
The section most valuable to special education teachers and administrators is the “Education” section, which hosts a plethora of resources. Those resources include a question and answer section on the “No Child Left Behind” act, links to the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) and a conference calendar. The “Education” section separates the additional links by area of specialty or interest. There are links concerning youth, early childhood, K-12 educators, educational rights, special education, adult education, colleges for those with disabilities and information about IDEA ’97. The site also provides a search engine to quickly find the information you require. While the site itself does not contain a great deal of information, it organizes all relevant disability information available on the web and provides links to those valuable resources. If you are searching for any government-related disability information, http://www.disabilityinfo.gov/ is an ideal place to start your journey. |
