Description/Accomplishments:
Service Learning Youth Leadership Center's serves as a link for students in alternative learning environments by supporting academic, social, and civic needs through service learning programs. Through a training series designed for preparation of service projects, youth have participated in the design and renovation of a room in a local community center in Knox, PA to serve as the center for service learning. This room serves as the headquarters for activities in which students from the district and local surround communities come to participate in projects that take place throughout the year.

Some of the past activities have included:
historical service trip to Gettysburg, bunk beds for a local faith-based camp, creating and maintaining a community garden, service to the City Mission in Erie, PA, ramps for handicap individuals, wiring for a new community computer lab, and renovation to establish a fitness center in their own community.

Through these types of activities, youth have brought services and facilities to a rural area while connecting their studies with practical and meaningful service addressing needs not familiar to their community.
