Description/Accomplishments:

MISSION:
We, as students, are members of many communities. Our mission in the Service Learning Center is to use our recently acquired knowledge to make all the communities we touch better for having us as a member.

ACTIVITIES / PROJECTS:
At this time we have several activities and projects either completed, active, or yet to come this year.

COMPLETED:
*Computer Tech Class- 1st 9 weeks. Made posters, flyers, tickets and programs for a local Garden Clubs annual banquet. 2nd 9 weeks. Made posters, flyers, tickets and programs for Bedford County’s Special Olympics annual Auction.

*Life Skills Class-Recycling, flower planting and school maintenance.

ON-GOING PRJECTS:
*Photography Class- Photograph old tombstones and cemeteries throughout Bedford County to be used by Historical Society.

*Mentoring Club-Students are trained to be peer mentors. They then are paired with an at risk Jr. High student. The pairs meet regularly and attend social functions together.

*School Beautification Club-Club members attended a 4 day leadership / Service Learning workshop. There they decided to take on the project of raising money to get the schools lockers painted. So far the have organized 2 fundraisers, the first of which raised $4900.00 profit.

FUTURE PROJECTS:
*Computer Repair Class-Students are taking donated old broken computers, they then repair and upgrade these computers. The computers are then donated to local organizations.
