[printer friendly (text) page] PA 21st CCLC Advisory BoardDear 21st Century Grantees, As the newly appointed Co-chairs of the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) State Advisory Board, we extend greetings to all of the current grantees and wishes for your continued success in striving to operate high quality programs. The Advisory Board is comprised of educators, community leaders, and advocates whose primary focus is to advance and promote the mission and vision of the 21st CCLC Initiative. We are pleased to introduce ourselves and share with you the mission, function and goals of the Advisory Board. The mission of the 21st CCLC Advisory Board is to support, advance and advocate for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, their participants, their families and their communities in promoting academic achievement, youth development and a strong sense of community. The primary function of the Board is to be a voice of the community learning centers in interaction with the PDE. Composed of 21st Century program directors (past and present) and practitioners in addition to experts from the education, health, and human services fields, the board will echo your concerns, needs, accolades, and general feedback in making decisions. We will also initiate activities and suggestions prudent to sustaining and expanding 21st CCLC programs. Board members will support sites by serving as a local resource to share best practices and problem solving strategies encountered through interactions with other afterschool state boards and networks and participation in national afterschool activities. When possible, board members will assist in planning of and be in attendance at state regional meetings and trainings.
