Integrating Technology into Afterschool Programming

Description: The Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance
is in the 4th year of our successful program engaging youth to bridge
the digital divide in schools and communities. Jon Zemanek, coordinator
of PSLA's Digital Divide Iniative, will lead this conference call
and describe some of the exciting technology programs our staff and
students have been working on. Participants will discuss how some
of these programs can be replicated in their 21CCLC, with the support
of PSLA.
Highlighted will be the Digital Miracles program, an innovative curriculum
for middle school students in which they learn to take apart and rebuild
a computer, install their own software, and engage in a service project
related to the skills they are learning. The students also earn the computer
they have built, and get to take it home!

Presentation: A powerpoint presentation has been developed, to be used in conjunction with the conference call. The presentation can be downloaded here. Participants are also encouraged to share the powerpoint with additional 21CCLC staff.
