CRF Manual
The Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance developed a manual that integrates the Constitutional Rights Foundation's Active Citizens Today (ACT) Curricula with Pennsylvania's Academic Standards.

The PSLA selected a core group of Pennsylvania teachers, experienced with service-learning, and representing all academic areas. The teachers were given an intensive training in the ACT Framework. The core group met and discussed what would be helpful to encourage other teachers to use the ACT Handbook in the classrooms. They also decided on the age/grade level they wanted to focus
on.

The original core of teachers divided into small working groups based on the
Academic Content areas; Social Studies, Language Arts, Science and Technology, Math, Arts, Career and College Guidance, and Special Education. The Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance took the suggestions of the teachers and developed the overall framework, including charts and forms that would be used to encourage some consistency among all the working groups.

For several months each smaller working group concentrated on their set of
Pennsylvania Academic Standards and looked deeply at how these standards could be addressed through the ACT process. They collected materials that supported their ideas and then completed the charts and forms developed by the PSLA. The result is this manual.

A note from the authors:
"We’ve used the model [of the Youth Driven Service Learning Center] to develop the workbook... The process will prompt you to answer questions in ways that are specific to your needs, not designed to be used cover to cover but rather to use the parts as you NEED them."
